From Efficient Communication to Goal Setting
From Efficient Communication to Goal Setting
‐ 24 hours
Course Overview
The course is designed for practitioners and instructors who wish to improve their ability to guide clients clearly and professionally, without imposing their own views or losing structure during a session.
The main objectives of the course are to enable participants to:
- Guide without imposing, by supporting the client without taking power or making decisions for them
- Create a relationship of trust, by establishing a safe and collaborative environment
- Enter the client’s “map of the world” through synchronisation and respect of individual perception
- Clarify and reformulate what the client expresses, to ensure mutual understanding and strengthen trust
- Structure and manage the time dedicated to an objective effectively
- Identify what is truly important for the person, by asking relevant and targeted questions
- Explore different models of goal formulation (PPPPPP, SMART, NICE and the 8 criteria), and understand when to apply or avoid them
- Identify motivational factors, including what is and is not under the client’s control
- Recognize common psychological biases and learn how to manage them appropriately.
- Develop and maintain a professional practitioner posture that supports autonomy and responsibility
The course is highly practical and includes:
- Demonstrations
- Practice in groups
- Adaptation of the content regarding the needs of the participants
Throughout the course, the instructor monitors the participants’ needs and questions in order to adapt the exercises and focus more time on what is most relevant to them.
The programme can be structured as a 24-hour online course and adapted to suit the NZ time zone
